Acquisitions

Apart from the impressive reconciliation efforts undertaken by the city of Osnabrück towards its native son of Jewish descent, this latest project to promote the artist has been reliant upon the endeavours of just a few individuals, who joined together to form the Nussbaum Association, with the objective of converting Felix Nussbaum's parents' house into a museum – a project which failed for financial reasons. With the tireless dedication of people such as Peter Junk and Wendelin Zimmer, for example, a catalogue raisonné was compiled and a periodical journal on the painter published with the active support of the Felix-Nussbaum Foundation. As severe financial constraints precluded the desired acquisitions, the Foundation agreed to provide the funds to facilitate the purchase of many of the artist's key works, which are on view here.
