"If I perish, do not let my paintings die"

Committed to honouring these last surviving words of the painter, uttered as he was transported to the concentration camp, the Foundation is endeavouring to ensure that Felix Nussbaum is finally accorded the international recognition he deserves.

In common with Anne Frank's diaries, the exceptional quality of his artistic skills lies in his ability to immerse the viewer into this dark era of displacement, persecution and existential fear - as if separated from these terrible events by a mere paper wall. These images – and this is their outstanding legacy – have become indelibly etched upon the collective historical memory.
